My Approach
I like to describe my therapeutic approach using this formula:
80% Compassion & Validation
mixed with
20% Gentle Challenge
80% Compassion & Validation
20% Gentle Challenge
How this formula manifests in the room:
Accountability
I'm always here to hold space for you, process difficult topics, and listen. However, there will also be times when I compassionately push back against unhelpful thinking or irrational belief systems you may unknowingly be perpetuating. A gentle challenge offers alternative patterns of thought and action.
Compassion
My approach is active. I lead with curiosity and compassion, while empowering clients to be their own agents of change. I value acceptance, open-mindedness, kindness, and create a space that mirrors those values in the room and therapeutic relationship. Together, we'll navigate and learn to tolerate complex relationships, situations, and emotions.
Tools & Skills
I'm here to equip you with the tools and skills for success in the areas of your life we address, but it will be up to you to apply them in the world. Some examples of “tools” we may practice include positive coping & grounding skills, effective communication techniques, mindfulness practices, and more.
My style in therapy does not take on a one-size-fits-all approach, as no two clients are identical.
There's a vast array of therapy approaches out there due to the diverse techniques and interventions available (read more about the ones I utilize in “professional background”!). What might work for one person might not work for another, leading most therapists, myself included, to avoid a singular approach. Our sessions will be tailored to your preferences; if you prefer or dislike homework or specific activities, I will adapt. Your needs drive our sessions, and I prioritize creating a collaborative environment to ensure you benefit from our time together.

My Values
Emotional Safety
I prioritize creating emotional safety – a space where you feel comfortable, at ease and able to openly share whatever is happening or has happened in your life. To achieve this, I genuinely take a non-judgmental approach.
Authenticity
Authenticity is key. I will show up in my full capacity, embracing my authentic self, and I hope you do the same. This may involve showing up tearful, angry, hurt, anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed– as life encompasses a vast range of emotions. It's okay not to be "fine” all the time.
Gentle Challenge
You can think of gentle challenge as me nudging you along the path we've set forth to explore. I will hold you accountable in a compassionate manner, free from blaming or shaming. There are no expectations of perfectionism. I am here to offer constructive feedback, provided you are open to engaging in the work.

Therapeutic Journey & Experience: •
Through various training programs and employment opportunities, I have gained experience in the following settings: Intensive Outpatient Programs, Partial Hospitalization Programs, residential environments, school settings and Community Mental Health. Since March 2020, I have adapted and grown to enjoy Telehealth.
My experience treating clients of all ages and backgrounds ranges from young children (ages 5-16) to older adults (65+) and encompasses diverse backgrounds, including varying socioeconomic statuses, military families, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those within the DCFS system.
My background spans treating various conditions such as Eating Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and more, through individual, family, and group therapy, along with case management.
I was primarily trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). However, I also incorporate interventions from different theoretical orientations, such as Solution-Focused, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy and more when needed.
It truly depends on the client and what they are most needing or what approach aligns more closely with their presentation.
Currently, some of the specialties I focus on are related to Life Transitions such as Grief & Loss, Perinatal Mental Health, Anxiety, Depression, and self esteem.
